Hooter's Casino

If you "like" Hooter's Casino facebook page you get a password on Wednesday that entitles you to 20 wings for the price of 10 ($9+tax).  Ranch is extra ($1).  I went there last Wednesday and like most Hooter's the wings were very tasty.  I was gonna get a beer to go with it but while I was waiting I played their video black jack game and quickly lost $4.  It seemed pretty unfair.  The dealer would get to 10's on about 3 out of ever 4 hands.  I think the dealer busted twice in over 20 hands.  So I'd stay away from those.  I was sitting at the bar and talked to a guy sitting by me who got a draft.  I think it cost him $3 for a bud lite or something.  I asked if it was cold and he said not really.

They also have a sunrise special from 12 am to 6 am with different dishes for $2.99.  They are mostly breakfast dishes, but also have a spaghetti and a chili dog plate.  They also have some good bonuses on their no limit hold em table.  They include $150 if you get beat with pocket aces.  There are also bonuses for getting a royal flush and quads.  This deal runs from 2pm to 8pm and 2am to 6am.  I went there last night at around 330 am to play a little poker but there was no one playing poker.  So I left and after not being able to find an open seat at 4 other casinos I came back to Hooter's to try their sunrise special at around 5am.
I got the steak and eggs, which also includes potatoes and toast.  It was absolutely awful.  The food was cold, even the toast, and the steak was very tough.  The Tuscany's late night S&E is $2 more but well worth it.

The Tuscany

The Tuscany is a small casino on Flamingo just west of Paradise.  They have cheap table minimums with $3 blackjack and $2 roulette.  However they have some weird rules on the $3 bj.  For instance blackjack normally only pays even money unless both cards are diamonds in which case it pays 2 to 1.  Also there are no pushes when you get blackjack.  You're allowed to double down at any time and if you take 6 cards without busting you automatically win.  They also have a video roulette machine that can be set at units from a penny to a quarter.  Although I'm pretty sure that machine is rigged.
Like all casinos drinks are free when you're playing and the cocktail waitresses are smoking.  There's this one named Roxy that will have a man panting like a dog.  Unfortunately she's married.  There's also this short Latina named Diana with an amazing rack but she's kind of unfriendly.  You have better odds at roulette then you do of getting Diana of having any kind of conversation with you.  Then there's this short blonde who's really hot but gets on my nerves because the one time I ordered a drink from her she forgot about my order and she knows I don't like her.  Whenever she walks by me she always yells out cocktails in a sarcastic way because I never ordered from her again after she forgot my drink.
The restaurant has some really good deals, especially after midnight.  They have one special where you can get a half pound angus chesseburger with fries for $5 or steak and eggs for $4.50.  The steak and eggs comes with hashbrowns and toast.  Those are actually the only two dishes I've ever had their but I can tell you they are both excellent.  However a small glass of oj will an additional $2.50 and it is VERY small and VERY watered down and soda's are like $2.  They do acutally allow you to bring drinks in from the casino floor.  What I like to do is play for a few minutes on a cheap machine right before I'm about to eat, unitl I get a drink from one of the cocktail waitresses.

Bars/Restaurants

9-8
Dairy Queen
I went to the DQ on Sring Mountain and Jones today.  I ordered the #2 Combo which is their classic 1/4 pounder with cheese.  The total is $5.09 plus tax but they tried charging me 59 cents for extra pickles which I thought was really stingy, so I told them to just make it with normal pickels.  It took almost 10 minutes for me to get my food.  The drink was loaded with ice and in a very thin cup, what little french fries there were, were hot and pretty tasty.  I have to say the burger was one of the best I've ever had at a fast food joint.  I was very surprised becuase it didn't look that appetizing.  The meat looked kind of scrawny and the cheese wasn't melted at all.  However the meat was hot and juicy, the condiments were fresh and cold, and the bun was warm and fluffy.  Also the burger had extra pickles on it.  I'm not sure if that was a mistake or their way of taking so long.

8-15
CICI'S PIZZA
Until the end of August CiCi's is having happy hour buffet's for only $2.99 after 8pm.  I'm not a big fan of their pizza but you can't beat that price.  I overheard the manager say that one day next month will be customer appreciation day and they'll be having that price all day long.  I went to the one on Tropican and Eastern last night and it was decent.  Plus on the back of my receipt was a coupon to get a buffet for $3.99 at anytime of the day.  I'll definitely be going back at least once a week until the end of August.

7-21
SICILY'S PIZZA
Last weekend I ordered from Sicily's pizza on Twain for the first time.  I asked what the carry out special was and he said he could do a large for $7.99.  I confirmed it was one topping and placed my order.  He asked if I was picking up (people are so dumb in this town).  I said yes and he asked when I would be there.  I said I could be there in 10 minutes.  He said alright and hung up without getting my name or number.  I wondered if he would really make my order but I took a chance and drove down there.
The guy was waiting for me outside the door when I drove up.  The place is pretty ghetto.  It's in a crummy strip mall next to a laundramat.  There are some tables and chairs that look like he got from a junk yard.  He tried charging me 50 cents extra for using a debit card but I told him that was too much so he didn't charge me.  The pizza was excellent however.  I'll probably be going back, but next time I'll bring cash.

KJ KITCHEN
I went back to KJ Kitchen yesterday.  I got there about 10 minutes to 3pm.  I sat down and was not given a lunch menu.  When the waitress came I asked if they still had the lunch specials.  She said it ended at 3.  I pull out my phone, checked the time (2:55) and said it wasn't 3 yet.  Without saying a word she turned around and went into the kitchen.  I don't know if she was going to ask the manager or what, but I got the impression if I had demanded the lunch price they would have spit in my food, so I got up and left.  I won't be going back there again.

IRENES BAR
Last week I went to Irene's Bar on Spring Mountain and Lindell. When you walk in there's a kitchen to the left and horseshoe bar to the right. Quite a few people were there but not much chatter. They also have a couple booths and tables. I sit down and order their 16 oz steak special for $8.95. The bartender tells me she'll call it in for me but normally you just order at the kitchen. Then she asks if I'd like some popcorn. I say "sure" and she gets me a paper plate of popcorn from a genuine popcorn machine. There were several flatscreen tv's playing a basketball game. They have some draft lager special for $1.25. I inquired about it and Robin the bartender gave me a small sample. It was too bitter for my taste so I ordered a Miller Light draft instead which I think was $2.25. They also had Foster drafts for $3.00. The food took a little while to come but it was tasty enough. The steak came with vegetables, baked potato, and a salad. I'd say a pretty decent value for the money.

KJ KITCHEN
Last Saturday I had lunch at Chinese restaurant on Spring Mountain and Jones called KJ Kitchen.  It's kind of a small restaurant but had a very nice ambiance.  I was actually afraid it might be too expensive but they had a $4.95 lunch special with about a dozen dishes to choose from.  Now the take out menu says the special is 11am to 3pm Monday to Sunday but I was still able to get it for that price.  I don't know if the take out menu is outdated or if they just changed it.
Anyway every table gets a complimentary teapot full of hot tea.  I eventually order the kung pao chicken.  It was busy but the service was pretty slow.  From the time I entered until I got my food was between 15 and 20 minutes and the waiter said nothing to me when they dropped off the plate.  The portion was a decent size.  The chicken looked very appetizing but the egg roll looked like someone beat it with an ugly stick.  The egg roll wasn't that bad, although it would have been better with some kind of dipping sauce.  There were no peanuts in the kung pao, I dont' remember any celery either, and the peppers were sliced rather thick.  It still tasted pretty good, as did the rice.  Overall I'd say it's a decent value for the money as long as customer service isn't real important to you.  It's probably a better place for take out then dining in.

Strip Clubs

I went to Larry Flynts Hustler Club a few weeks ago on Sunday night. It's suppose to be customer appreciation night with free entry, food and drinks from 8pm to 12am. I get there a little before 11. I can see the joint right off the highway but have the damdest time getting to the parking lot. I have to drive past it several times. If you drive there I definitely advise getting directions from google. So I finally make it to the parking lot and walk around to the front and I ask the door man if this is the entrance to the club and he responds by saying it's a bar, a boutique, and a gentleman's club. I'm like Ok, and try to confirm if it's free to get in. He said it's industry night. I ask what that means and he asks if I work in the hospitality field. I tell him I work at a casino but I don't have work ID. The guy was bit of an asshole and pretty evasive about the cover charge. He motions me to check in girl saying she can explain it better. She tells me it's 10 dollars since I don't have a membership card. Maybe it's free if you're nonlocal and get dropped off or come by their limo. Anyway I go ahead and pay it. The place is packed and I finally sit down at the bar. After a few minutes the bartender finally attempts to take my order. I ask her about the free food and she says it's on the second floor and tells me theirs stairs and an elevator. I take the elevator. This floor is a lot less packed but I don't remember any naked girls on stage. I see a couple walking around with their boobs hanging out though. I see some tables with some food trays but the guy standing over their tells me they ran out and more is on it's way. Turns out the food comes from this pizza place nearby. I talk to the guy for a little while and he tells me they actually provide free food everyday. He get's word that the food has arrived and goes downstairs to get it so I go get a beer. It also takes the bartender on this floor quite a while to get to me. While I'm waiting to place my order I see the food arrive. They had mostacholie with or without meatballs and garlic bread. It wasn't bad but the plates to put it in were pretty dinky. The girls weren't anything to get excited about. A couple cute ones but a lot that I would never want to date.

UPDATE 8-15
A couple weeks ago I tried cashing my check at the Tuscany.  The girl at the cage was nicer then the ones at Longhorn and Ellis Island.  Of course that's not saying much, and she was also dumber.  I ask her what their promotion is for cashing paychecks there.  She responds by asking "you mean what do you get?".  ???????  I'm like "Yes!"  What the hell else could I mean?  The promotion seemed pretty good.  You $5 in slot freeplay, a $5 match play for the pit, a raffle ticket for a monthly drawing, and two drink coupons for the bar.  I asked how long the freeplay and matchplay were good for.  They told me the freeplay was good for 24 hours and the matchplay was good for a month.
Well I had to get to work so I decided I would come back later to use them.  When I do the bj table is full and my freeplay isn't working.  I take my freeplay card back to the cage and they almost don't give me a new one but finally do after checking their records.  I use it and up cashing out with a whole dollar.  I decide to come back to use the matchplay since the tables are all full.
I go back last Thursday at 3am and the fucking pitt boss won't let me use it because he says it's only good for 24 hours.  I told him the cage told me it was good for a month but the asshold refuses to let me use it.  So I storm out.  I was going to get something to eat at the diner but I'm so mad I decide to go to Jack in the Box instead.

SAM'S TOWN
I played my first live poker tournament here on the fourth of July.  The total entry fee is $23 but I was a little surprised that we started out with only $500 in chips and the blinds started at $20 and $10.  According to http://www.allvegaspoker.com/tournaments.php you start out with $2000 with blinds starting at $10 and $5.  With the lower chip start and bigger blind amount it makes it pretty difficult to work an effective strategy.  Even with the first level being limit.
I was able to last an hour and 45 minutes.  I didn't come close to making it to the money.  I did last long enough to be moved to a second table but I think I was the first one out at that table.
I've been to their breakfast buffet twice which I think now is like 6 bucks.  I saw this buffet featured on Rachel Ray's show $40 a day where I believe it was only 5 bucks.  All I can say is they must of paid her a ton of money to give them a positive review because it is pretty awful.  Both times the food was mostly cold and not very tasty.  The selection is also pretty paltry with almost no fruit to choose from.

LONGHORN CASINO
I've been to Longhorn a few times.  They have $2 blackjack which is cool but there's this one dealer their that is a real jerk.  I forget his name but he weighs about 500 lbs.  The guy is so angry and rude.  The first time I was there when he dealt he came in and one of the other guys at the table said he (jabba the hut) was going to take care of us and jabba says "no I'm not".  Another time after playing for about 3 hours I asked if I could get a meal comp and he laughed and sarcastically said "No!  For $2 blackjack?  That was a good one though."  The last time I played blackjack their on the first hand he sarcastically showed me the cards again and commented that he probably went too fast for me to count.  Most of the other dealers their are pretty cool though.  I suppose if I were 300 lbs over weight I would be pretty grumpy too.
I had another bad experience there yesterday when I tried to get their check cashing bonus.  However the check I had was for $99.78 and the girl at the cage the check had to be at least $100 to get a $5 free play credit.  I asked if they could just give me that for my check and she wouldn't do it because it was 22 fucking cents short!  Funny thing is I read on the internet that they gave bonuses for checks over $50 so i guess they raised it recently.  Good thing for you guys that you have me and my blog ;p

JOKER'S WILD
A couple weeks ago I went to Joker's Wild on Boulder HWY off Warm Springs.  I see a sign outside that says 2 wings for 50 cents and 50 cent beers.  I had only played their once before but I played at one of their sister casinos several times.  When I go in I go to the pit to see if I how much comps I have from my playing points.  Well they send me to the cage who sends me back to the pit.  I guess the cage can only tell you points you earn from slot play.  So I go back to the pit and the dealer gets this one chick working in the pit who tells me she's not allowed to tell me how many points I've earned.  I'm like what??????????  Finally another guy comes over and takes my card and tells me he can give me 5 bucks because I haven't played their since March.  I tell him I've played at the El Dorado since then.  He says it should be in his computer but it isn't.  The dealer tells me that the woman who told me she couldn't tell me how many points I had was in training.
So anyway I take the comp to the snack bar and order 6 wings and chili cheese fries.  The total was just under 5 bucks.  I tried ordering a 50 cent beer but the guy said he couldn't ring it up their even though he was the bartender and the snack bar was connected to the bar.  So basically I can't use the comp for the beer and the food.
The wings were buffalo style.  They were just normal breaded wings but every two came with a cup of ranch.  They weren't that good, seemed like they had been sitting around for a while but not bad for 25 cents each.
The fries were decent and a very generous portion.  Truth be told I couldn't even finish all the food I got for less then 5 bucks.  I think I left with 2 wings and about 40% of my fries.  The beer came in a very small plastic cup but over all it was a pretty good deal for the money.
I went to El Dorado's website and alerted them about my points not showing up at Joker's Wild but they never got back to me.

Malls

Sunset Mall
In January I was at the this mall and saw a cute girl I wanted to talk to.  When I approached her I think I told her she looked adorable and she smiled and said she wasn't expecting me to say that.  She then extended her hand introduced herself and asked me my name.  In the corner of my eye I see a guard watching us.
She tells me she has a boyfriend but that I'm a real cool guy.  So she goes one way and I go the other to look around Macy's.
When I walk out of Macy's that same guard that was watching us comes up to me and tells me that I have to leave the mall because I "spooked a customer".  Funny thing is the girl went into the opposite direction from where this guard had been standing when he was watching us.
After I get outside the mall he has the cops detain me for half an hour then bans me from the mall for "sexual misconduct".  I believe the guard got jealous when he saw me talking to a cute girl because he doesn't have the balls to do it himself.  When he was writing up my ban he asked the cop if he could not give me my copy, which I believe further proves he knows he had no reason to kick me out.  I would definitely avoid this place like the plague.
